    Ralph Abbott Long III,

    is a father, husband, entrepreneur and lifelong Atlanta resident committed to making his community, city, and state better places for all Georgians to live. Ralph was raised in the Niskey Lake community of Southwest Atlanta, where he was educated in the Atlanta Public Schools and graduated from Campbell High School in Smyrna. He received his degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta. Ralph is a licensed Real Estate Broker and the owner of The District Realty and Biscuits ‘n Gravy Productions, a multimedia productions firm.


    Ralph Long, III has been an active member of the Sylvan Hills community of Southwest Atlanta for nearly twenty years. In 2001, Ralph bought his first home, a fixer-upper on Sylvan Road. This house was a perfect project for a young man eager to make a positive impact on his community by renovating a home and helping to contribute to the goodness of the neighborhood. Ralph and his family presently live in a 1932 bungalow that he has spent several years restoring to its former beauty. From 2009 thru 2013, Ralph was honored to serve his community in the Georgia General Assembly. As the State Representative for parts of Atlanta, East Point and College Park, Ralph was an accessible, outspoken and passionate leader committed to working with anyone willing to improve our community. During his service in the Legislature, Ralph proudly:


    • Led efforts for the reform of the Atlanta Public Schools System, including the removal
         of the former Superintendentand those School leaders who cheated our children.
    • Sponsored legislation to protect East Point residents from pentachlorophenol,a
         harmful environmental contaminant; and,
    • Secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in infrastructure funding for Atlanta
        Metropolitan College.
     

    Ralph Long, III is married to Erica Morris Long, an Atlanta native and graduate of Douglass High School, Florida A&M University and Harvard Law School. Ralph and Erica are the proud parents of Ralph Abbott Long, IV, who enjoys studying art, Spanish and superheroes, especially Spiderman. Ralph and his wife are diligent volunteers at their son’s school.

    Multi Media Production firm located in the Atlanta that focuses on current events, photography, video production, music, graphics, and digital fine art. This company is the marketing division of The District Realty and handles all muti media aspects of The Mindsweat Organization.

    Used AutoCad Release 14 to aid real estate developer in the renovation and remodeling of residential properties. Worked with General Contractor and Subcontractors to design single-family and multi-family homes throughout metro Atlanta. Learn more.

    Used AutoCad Releases 14 & 2000 and Mechanical Desktop 3 & 4, to aid engineers in illustration of Kawneer’s vast line of aluminum products. Created 3D Mechanical Drawings to scale from mock sketches. Submitted new design prototypes for review and possible STL file creation.     Communications/Outreach Specialist

    Coordinated statewide outreach and training to the trucking industry about medical certification compliance requirements for truck drivers under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Built statewide database of trucking companies and drivers and traveled across Georgia educating the industry about their medical certification responsibilities.

    • Authored training materials and brochures that accurately conveyed ACA information in a user-friendly form;
    • Served as DDS representative to industry groups as we worked to bring them in full compliance with ACA requirements by the federally mandated deadlines.

    • Author of legislative proposals addressing issues affecting public education, public transportation and environmental protection.
    • Vocal supporter of school reform, school choice and the 2012 Constitutional Amendment providing a mechanism for State-sponsored public charter schools. Worked closely with the Georgia Charter Schools Association and Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) to educate constituency on school reform and school choice.
    • During 2012 Democratic Primary election, received the endorsement of Students First
    • Sponsored HB 206, Whistleblower Protection legislation intended to protect state employees, especially educators, who report waste, fraud and abuse within their employing agencies.
    • Played an integral role in the reform of the Atlanta Public Schools System after the standardized cheating debacle of recent years.
    • Maintains strong partnership with district education community, particularly Members of the Atlanta Board of Education, the office of the School Superintendent and leadership of Atlanta Technical College and Atlanta Metropolitan State College.
    • Staunch supporter of MARTA and public transit.
    • Authored legislation to restrict the use of pentachlorophenol, a carcinogenic substance used in the preservation of wood telephone poles.
    • Advocate for law enforcement and community-based policing initiatives. Vocal supporter of strengthening code enforcement issues, fighting blight and addressing other quality-of-life issues that impact public safety.
    • Partners with clergy and community advocates to address community revitalization and public safety issues.
